The one that started it all! For 14 years we have served our Hillcrest community until 3 in the morning and have had so many memorable times with people we will never forget. We have been receiving a lot of messages from our community about last night's shooting at our sister restaurant, The Asian Bistro in Hillcrest. I just wanted to let you all know that my mom and brother are safe. As if by a miracle, nobody was shot. The restaurant is a mess, and we were all so shocked and terrified to hear about the event and see the aftermath. This was most likely a hate crime, and police have the suspect. Our employee's (who are all our friends and family!)... and customers together ran and hid in the outside small back area behind the kitchen. I'm sure they were wondering if they would ever leave that back patio alive. The Asian Bistro will be closed for a week to give our family, employee's, and community time to heal, and to restore the damages of our restaurant. So many of our friends have reached out to check on us. Each message was generously offering support, love, and help. The gay community has been an important part of my family for 15 years, when my mom first made that Hillcrest location into her new life by creating The Asian Bistro. Thank you very much to everyone who was concerned and reached out to us. Hillcrest is having a rough time, but we will get through this together.
