Brilliant interview about To Be A Man, Augustus Masters book and understanding of how to come to terms with yourself and who you really - best and the worst and integrate totally for whatever chapter of life you're in. I went to a workshop/talk with him and his wife Diane about 15 years ago in Clonmel and feel honoured to know them. They were already great then! And the interviewer has done his work too so the interview really flows with insight and understanding!

The Vegan Cabin corner store - for an organic coffee on the go or organic loaf of bread - what once was Windy's stable is now re-positioned, insulated walls and floor, stove, windows and new door put in and just across from the main house. This autumn's projects? To admire it and power it up, frequency-wise and get electricity and water on tap! Everything and everyone here are part Catalan. And time provided all of Saturday and Sunday to enjoy nature, to work, turn my paperback book into a kindle, to pick up a painting from the framers, get the grass cut, the car washed and the raised beds weeded and planted up. Don't let anyone tell you....? 1) Anything 2) That you need eggs, butter or any other body parts or fluids 3) That these pancakes are in any substantial way different from Lemon Drizzle Cake! The only difference is that you can justify making them for one!!! Any time, any place! No need to be expecting visitors!

It's sometimes the small things in life that slow us down and put us off...like having to wash vegetables that you have grown yourself, as opposed to getting some Linda McCartney vegan sausages out of the freezer and have to only lightly rinse pre-washed organic potatoes, bought from a supermarket, to cut into organic chips. With my own produce, sometimes only a quarter of the thing is salvageable and it's covered in soil and in a big sense you 'seen where it's been' - like w...hen you caught a slug sliding over it earlier in its growing process.... STILL, persevere! Why? Because it is better the devil you know. A little bug, now all trace removed and rehomed in a less precious part of the garden is much much better than the invisible traces of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, preservatives, taste enhancers, plastics and often cooked to oblivion ingredients you will find in shops!
