We get asked questions every day about the store, #health, #diet, menu items and more....so every #Friday we'll pick one question we get often and answer it for you! . . QUESTION: I want to juice at home , what juicer do you recommend? ... ANSWER : Loaded question because no single juicer works ideally for all types of produce. There are 2 main types of juicers: Centrifugal & Masticating and both have their pros & cons. Lets look at both options: Option 1 - Centrifugal - works by using a flat cutting blade on the bottom of a rapidly spinning strainer. The cut produce is forced against the juicing strainer through the use of centrifugal force. PROS: Larger shoot means less cutting = time saver & less work -Juices softer fruits better like cucumbers & apples. CONS The end pulp is still wet which means that not all of the juice has been extracted. -Centrifugal juicers produce a little heat which means that oxidation and degradation of the nutrients begins sooner. Option 2 - Masticating - quite literally means 'to chew'. The juicer uses an auger that squeezes the produce so much that the juice is extracted. PROS This juicer works better for leafy greens. -The end pulp is almost dry meaning that juice was more efficiently juiced with little waste. CONS While it is best at juicing tougher fruits & veggies like greens, carrots & beets, softer produce will clog the machine. -The shoot if generally much smaller which means a lot of cutting which means more work and time. So which one? I personally have 1 of each at my home but because I juice a lot of kale, I generally find myself using my masticating juicer more. Cleanup is about the same for both. I recommend a Breville for a great residential centrifugal juicer or Omega Juicers for a quality masticating juicer. The one I have even does #wheatgrass! See more

Myricetin is a flavonoid found in parsley and other plants. It has been shown to help prevent skin cancer. Parsley contains one of the highest concentrations of myricetin per 100 grams. Studies have shown that parsley and other green herbs and vegetables can block the cancer-causing effects of heterocyclic amines. These are chemical compounds that have cancer-causing qualities. They are generated when meat is grilled at high temperatures. Apigenin is a natural chemical... found in parsley. In a 2015 review, it was shown to decrease tumor size in an aggressive form of breast cancer. Researchers believe that apigenin could be a promising non-toxic cancer treatment in the future. . . I know I’m not alone in thinking the seems this year. Our local #community is different. The country is different. The whole world is different. We are confused & #divided. We are desperate for normalcy and the weight of it all can seem overwhelming at times. 2020 has brought on countless new challenges and I was personally feeling defeated about halfway through this year. When I took a step back I realized my behaviors to cope were only adding to the str...ess and so I put my foot down and focused on finding my #balance and my life changed for the better after just a slight attitude adjustment. During these crazy times it’s normal to experience a range of emotions. Let them come and let them pass without judgement. We are all in this together. Let’s not forget the things that help bring our bodies back to balance like nutrient dense foods & juices , breathing, restful sleep, being outside & an open heart. . #2020 #upsidedown #eat2live #eatlikeyourlifedependsonit #lakelandfl #lkldhaven #nourishment #feedyoursoul See more
