Good morning and welcome to NEAR's popular Monday feature 'focus on a vegan business'. Today we are travelling a little further afield to the gorgeous Scottish... county of Argyll. Having been there, I can say it is a truly beautiful place to visit with a vegan café to boot. Today we are featuring Catchacarrot Vegan Pop Up Cafe. We are also running a Christmas feature so if you would like to be included in that please contact us. We are also doing livestream outreaches on 21 Nov (non food) and 5 Dec (food), so we will be mentioning all of our fab businesses by name within it. So, over to Janine Calder who is the owner of Catchacarrot: Janine Calder runs Catchacarrot Vegan ( pop up) café in Kilmelford , Argyll . She operates alone cooking homemade vegan cakes , tartlets, curries, salads, desserts etc from scratch. A long time ethical vegan, she hopes that her food and ethical compassionate lifestyle will inspire others to make positive changes. She makes drinks as well and all sorts of other food - moussaka, quiche , cheesecakes, mousses etc . She is the only 100% vegan café in Argyll. Her café is seasonal as she is based in rural Argyll and dependent on tourists as well as a small number of locals .The café is currently closed but she is doing the occasional delivery ( Indian food this weekend coming ). She has a stall at a local centre outside the weekend, and if Scotland doesn't go into a full lockdown she is hoping to do a set , bookable vegan Christmas type dinner over a few weekends in December.
